Blackhawk save your money on the cdi. The stock DS makes peak power at 6200rpm. By time you reach the 7900rpm rev limiter its time to shift. Just my opinion.

Well, in my opinion, most aftermarket CDIs also enhance power, not mearly raise the Rev Limit. Therefore, If you increase the power curve (by use of an aftermarket CDI, and other performance parts) good power will be generated up to as high as 8500 RPM. Raising the limit would then be needed. So, if you are planning more engine mods, it makes sence to get an aftermarket CDI that can take advantage of that new-found power at higher RPMs. That being said, I've never seen a gasoline running DS650 case (at least not yet) where a Rev limit above 8500 RPM made sence; Like you say, at that point, its time to shift!

If the Lectron is not make HP after 6200 RPM it is not a good carb. I know that 40mm Edelbrock with stock CDI and Alba pipe,K&N with open air box had not hit its peak HP # when it hit the rev limter. The Ron Wood CDI HP peak out aroud 8400 too 8600 RPM.
