Big valved, mild cam 760/770?
#1
Looking for advice from the usual suspects, y'all know who ya are! The thrill is almost gone with the 720 & I'm looking forward to the next step. I'm leaning towards the 760/770 stroker kit but was wondering what effect installing the 40/34 oversize valves would have with my engine configuration....Web 110 cams, 105 bore with either 760/770 stroke, TM 45 w/ accel. pump activated. My intent is to keep her torquey, that's why I'm keeping the TM 45 & 110 cams. I'm wondering what's going to happen when I get the big valves in there, would I realize more benefit from a more radical cam grind and actually LOOSE power with mild cams & big valves? Keep in mind I'm not drag racing or dune riding, just fire roads & some hill climbs. What do y'all think of this setup? Pros? Cons?

if you are just fire roading, i'd try the the big valves on the 720, then gear it down a little, it will go faster than a person probably should on a quad. i was pulling the 760 with this set up this weekend.

I can tell you when i frist went with the pami 760. I had everything your describing execpt i had dual cards?? and she was very torquie out of the hole and threw mid. But she suffered on top a tad (but for a trail rider that should be fine) When i went with the pami degreed race cams the bike changed completely it has it low mid and top if i lost some down low i have so much i did not know i lost it!!! Hey Sandman, what cams are ya running with your setup? I guess what my post boils down to is my concern of not having enough cam to appreciate the big valves. Ya think the 110 cams would be a good match to the 40/34 valves? My biggest concern is everything but top end, don't big valves really give most of their benefit at high RPM?

i have the 109's while running with the pami 760 things were pretty even across the board but the flats the 720 really would pull. to be fair the hill we race aren't very long so, in the short it's not a big difference, we did a lot of tire trading with each other and that was the biggest difference. my thinking is if you went with the head first you would know if you needed the stroke later or not. thinking my next move is nos. plus the diet of the ds, keeping the front brakes though.
