By the way....on the bullet proof engine thing.... One ride and my 2004 DS dropped one of the oil check valves in the bottom of the engine. If you buy one and your oil light comes on at idle then you've lost yours. They had to split the case and replace the valve. Brand new engine. Oh, well...it still runs fast....

I HAVE OWNED 4 DS 650S, STILL HAVE 2, NOT ONE LEMON IN THE BUNCH. I HAVE ONE STOCK FOR TRAIL RIDING & BASHING ON MY TRACK & A 770 FOR THE SAND. LOOK BELOW & YOU CAN TELL I HAVE OTHER QUADS BUT THE DS ARE MY FAVORITE RIDERS.

 

I boguht my first DS in February of 2001, liked it & bought a pipe etc. In February of 2003, I bought my second DS, which I have not changed any single item relating to power - it's running 100% stock powered. I like the idea of running a machine stock powered until after the factory warranty. Eventually I'm going to get a pipe for my 2003, however it isn't something you have to do right away, it can be put off for a year as long as you aren't drag racing everyone you see.

 

you can get a lemon in anything. the day we bought my wifes lexus we only made it about ten miles and every light on the thing came on. the dealer sent a wrecker to get it and bring it back to the shop. needless to say i was pissed and my wife was boiling! turns out the pickup tube on the oil pump feel off because it was not bolted on! we didn't take that car but made the dealer go through alll the paper work to give us another. i think that thing was built on a friday or a monday?

Oh, man....that sucks! That's exactly why we always park the truck and trailer where we can see them when we stop somewhere. I read an article where they said that enclose cargo trailers are the number one "accessory" market going for ATVs. Your case is exactly why that is happening.

From that comment, I'd say nope, the pipe probably can't wait. You'll want to look into these few things to get you going quick: Pipe, Air Filter, Carburetor & CDI box. There are several choices for each one of these, it is really hard to declare an all-around winner in any category. The fact we have several good choices now is excellent, and better still is the fact new companies are giving us new choices all the time.

 

It was parked out front of my apartment and when I came out to go to work it was gone and I planned on going rideing that day too. I did not have insurance on it either. My truck insurance wont cover it either. I was hopeing someone from new orleans on hear could help me locate it or someone can find it. It does have a White Bros. R4 pipe on it.
