Problems with Neutral Light
#1
Near the sprocket there is a ground wire that connects. The bolt broke in there so I grounded it elsewhere. Now when I turn on the bike (not running yet.. just testing to see if wiring is correct) the neutral light is on in gear or in neutral. Anyone had a similar problem? A few more hurdles and hopefully I'll be done.

that wire must be grounded to that screw. That is the sensor wire that comes off the gears and only makes contact when the gears are in neutral ( kinds hard to explain with out seeing the gears move in and out) if you ground it any where else it'll light up constantly. The area around the screw is insulated - good luck getting the screw out. Drill it out very carefully and retap same size. The bike will run just fine without that being hooked up, just no neutral reference light, get it fixed - and go ride!

Never a dull moment. Looks like I need to get that blasted screw out. Man it's tiny.. don't know how I am going to get it out. Anyone have a part number for that screw? Looks like I'm going to need a new one.

Entomber:
Yes, that is a replacable part. It would be your neutral pickup sender.
I had a couple issues with a couple of these (that is another story.)
I was able to get my Dremmel in there and cut a flat top in the screw then use a flat top screw driver to get it out (it was a tight fit.)
I ended up taking the whole sender unit down to Orchard with me and getting a cap head allen screw for it so I wouldn't have the issue again.
Preacher told me to use Loctite on these type of fittings where they go into the case instead of teflon tape. The Loctite will seal them as well as the teflon since it is low oil pressure.
Feel free to give me a call and I can try to help you through it.

DuneMe,
please PM me with your number. I would like to call you about this. This one got me really bummed out. I'm just trying to take my time and slap this thing together and I want to do it all right.
