LED taillight

Default LED taillight

I was thinking about making my own. What exactly would i need to do this. I was thinking of having a square of red ones and have DS650 in the middle in blue. What do you guys think?

well i was thinking of gettin a piece of aluminum about the same size as the stock light, and i'm looking into some prices, but i'm not sure wat else i'm going to need, like resistors or watever

The easiest may be to make a mount that uses the same 1157 bulb. You can buy a led dual intesity bulb that will fit in the stock housing. The problem is that the bulb faces sideways and the led's won't work. The led's need to face the oncoming traffic. You could make it out of aluminum and use the stock bulb mount and put a trick lens over the back. Just a cheap idea.

ya i was thinking about doin that too, i have the led bulb in mine now, its not bright enough

Just for you, I took my new taillight apart. There are six led's hooked up in series, no resistors or anything.

thanx baja, and is that the one off ebay? and do you know wat size they are?like 3mm or 5mm

I lied. I just took off some more electrical tape. It appears that the two supply wires are just tied together. When they go in the back of the housing the hot wire splits into two wires. Each side feeds three led's. There is a resistor that supplies each side. The color stripes are red, red, brown, gold. Sorry for the wrong info.

Yea, its the one off of ebay. The led's look like they are 5mm or so. I use led flashlights all the time and they are the same size and 90% of led's I've seen. Good luck
