Default Engine Cutting Out

Engine Cutting Out

Just got my engine back together a couple of weeks ago, New Web cam and valve spring, New 11.5/1 piston (stock bore), ported and polished, dual Mikuni’s, RWR CDI, Power Pro pipe. After the initial break-in ride it was running great. Went out for the second ride and was doing a jetting run when it cut out bad at 6000-7000 RPM. Pulled over and oil was coming out the breather. Took out the check valve and cleaned it and reinstalled it to specs, changed the filter and oil. Still a little blow by but it has always been that way. Did a leak down test (6%) and checked the valve clearance all good. Took it out again still cutting out, changed the CDI still cutting out. Put back on the single Carb still cutting out. Anyone have any ideas or suggestion or similar experience. Need Help.

Thats a lot of carb for the stock bore and stock valves. I don't know how to tune the duals, but maybe somone can ring in and give you some jetting advice on the duals for a stock valved and stock bore.

fuel starvation? fuel petcock filter dirty?

loose coil wire - must be very tight, not loose.

Hey Scooby
How you been. I remember when you had your coil problems a couple years ago. What was the symptoms/cause/solution.
I will pull the petcock and check.

Ironrod
As far as the jetting I have run these dual mikunis for awhile without any problems.

Ok, I thought you said they were new. If the jetting worked before it should work again. Like scooby said, check the fuel petcock and I might also add to check your vent breather hose for the gas tank. Sometimes those clog. Check it by loosening the gas cap when it cuts out. If loosening it cures the problem, then you'll need to get the pinch or clog in the line taken care of.

Not enough air getting to the gas tank would cause this... I pinched my vent tube once and thats what it would do it would run great for a bit then it would act like it was running out of fuel then die.... check your vent see if it starts right back up when you take the gas cap off.

Well spent the morning removing and flushing fuel tank, rerouting the vent tube, chanbging fuel line, unpluging and cleaning all electrical plugs and coil connections. Took it out and now it hits 9000 RPM without any problems.
