Exhaust end cap
#4
Don't make the mistake of cutting the hole too big, Back pressure is very important to the DS engine. This is why so many times people buy pipes and end up loosing horse power but add noise!. Just cut off the reducers inside the end cap. Leave about 1/2" of the existing turn downs on the inside of the end cap. You can put the screen back on after the mod and still keep it spark legal. Then rejet the carb to 185-190, add a K&N filter kit (airbox Lid off) and you will be very happy. OH, VERY IMPORTANT! Repack your muffler "REALLY TIGHT" with FMF four stroke packing($10) about every 5 rides. Standard DS packing is bad. Without tight packing, your muffler will create poor flow (turbulance), this will rob you of HP's big time.
A lot of guys have poor packing in there stock pipe, buy an aftermarket, get results, think the pipe made a big difference, but may have gotten the same results from this simple CHEAP mod & repacking job. Try it, you will like it!
