Default Updates On Carb/Pipe Dyno Shootout?

oh yeah, AZSAND is there but could not get his carbs thru the airport security...
dang bomb sniffing dogs probably went nuts smelling who knows what in AZSAND's carb. That does suck though, I mean its a carb......

Ds650RaCer you can't compare dyno #s from two different places, but the dyno in Aledo reads low.

It sounds like they are getting some good gains out of both carbs....

Yea it is a good deal!

The ONLY other kit is the Ron Woods at 1500$ and its not tuned

So 1000 bucks is not bad...

the HSR45 (TM45-6) carb only (no cable, boot, ported manifold, etc) retails for $369, and can be bought for $315. Search the web.

the HSR42 (TM42-6) carb only (no cable, boot, ported manifold, etc) retails for $349, and can be bought for $275. Search the web.

Then you have to order the needles, and jets, ect. Wait for everything to be shipped. Go to dyno. Tune on dyno for a few hours. Don't have the right needle, order new needle. Wait another week. Get it in the carb and try it out.

Dyno= 50 an hour = ?
jets and needles 75
your time to tune ???

What is your time worth?

Some people just want to get what they can and go ride! I enjoy rideing, duneing, and playing. I don't want to spend all my time tuneing.

I am glad there are choices out there. I hope that people search the web and get exactly what they want! That is what is great, their are choices now. When I started with the DS, there was only 1 choice to make.

Well said, I dont know about everyone else but when I got my 04'X 3 weeks ago I had to have the bolt ons right then, i couldnt wait to go through the hassle of dyno this, then try that there have been people done that allready. So I went with what I found to be the best bolt ons in my opinion( which isnt worth much since, like I said I have only been studying the ds for about 3 weeks). I dont have time to go on the weekends and try different combos, that time is spent riding, and racing. So for me I'm glad I went for the mrhp46hv, ported intake, and billet endcap. I just dont have time for trial and error like I used to.

So, if you have seen these tunedcarbs for sale, why didn't they have one yesterday? If I am not mistaken, the TM that they had yesterday was tuned from RWR straight out of the box. Then it had to be worked on. I know that the TM was from a dealer for RWR.

If I were a betting man....(where did I here this) I would bet that the tuned TM's that you have seen, are not jetted the same as what was used yesterday. So, are you saying that they did not have the carb tuned properly?

If you have better contact on these carbs, I would bet some of these members would like to know.

Dune,

From reading the posts, I dont know what kind of tuned service they got from Ron Wood Racing. Many people buy those carbs from Ron Wood and dont request any tuning. Certainly, I don't believe that the carb was tuned for the exhaust that they used. It's at least possible, that no tuning, or very little tuning information was given. Certainly there is information needed to correctly tune both carbs. Both carbs are good, and I still believe in my heart of hearts, that the Lectron 46HV is a better carb for lots of reasons. Both carbs need at least the following information to be tuned correctly...

1) Altitude
2) Manifold type
3) Head porting information
4) Valve size information
5) Exhaust information
6) Average riding temperature

Im going to order my Lectron next month. I just have to save a few more bucks and I'll be ready.

I would also like to add that MrHP does require more information to tune (more than listed above) his carbs. I believe that his tuning is more accurate than the standard Ron Wood Racing carb. It would appear from the results that tuning a carb is probably the most important factor in horsepower results.

I agree with you 100%. Tuneing the carb is extremely important.

Im with Ironrod, ordering my carb next month! Lectron that is.

Seems to be the best way to go. Im looking for max horsepower, though money is important I looking for the best performance possible and Im willing to save up alittle longer to get the best.

The MrHp HV46 and intake and end cap is a great combo. But your forgetting that besides the carb/intake and endcap for $1500 your also getting a fulldrag pipe, cdi, and filter.

It makes me no difference ,I'm a dealer for both. They have the best of both
