It Is Finished- 46hv vs TM45

Jiminok,
The filter works fine clamped to the snorkel without being secured otherwise, for drag racing. But what about desert racing, where I am pounding my way across deep sand whoops for miles and miles and miles at a time? I would think that not having things secured any better than that would start to cause problems after fifty miles or so. Losing a filter in the middle of the desert doesn't sound very appealing.
Your HP numbers are encouraging, because those are the same mods I am planning for my DS, and that is the HP figure I was shooting for. Thanks for the post.

Here is what I've gotten from the test. I'm assuming that this dyno is regularly used be MRHP and crew to test other DS's? They say this is a surprising # so I'm guessing this is true.
I don't see anything about testing the stock carb with an endcap or exhaust or a ported intake. This would represent my bike pretty closely and I can safely call this the low buck approach. Since I could easily feel the result of modifying the end cap, and the intake also had a definate feel, the most to be gained from a carb could be a couple of horsepower or possibly none at all if I wasn't able to jet a TM45 like a pro.
It still comes down to alot of money that might be used elsewhere. For what I've saved I could buy the Titanium axle setup and take alot of rotating mass off my bike
The new bike has a different intake system? Anyone know? I sure wouldn't have guessed that.
I'm impressed with MRHP, he came through and if a person didn't want to spend the time on research or work on their quad I think his products are first rate. Not many people even considered the DS worthy of trying to come up with parts for it.
Good job guys and I can't wait to hear an AZsand story about airport security.

Countryjoeglass, I was one of the first people to get a DS and made all kinds of mistakes, over the years I've tried to give advice and save people from making the same ones over and over but it doesn't seem to have been well recieved. So I'm done with sharing my ideas and observations for now and if I can make it to FSWIV maybe I can back up what I've learned. I don't mean to sound short, I'm just keeping some secrets for myself as I continue to learn. After FSW I will tell everything I have experimented with, good or bad.

Country, Hey no it's nothing you said. I want to go to fourstroke wars and try for a trophy and I need to keep an edge. I will never be as light as some of these guys and kids on raptors. How many DS's have even placed down there? not many. We're not holding our own too well.
Like I said I've never tried to do anything but give good advice and save people money but I'm spending too much time on the forum trying to convince people and it has started to wear on me.
I have a metal intake snorkle, nicely made and never collapses.

Busmechanic, mine was custom made and fits really well., it was given to me and I don't know who made it. I like how it supports the carb. Personally if I made one, Aluminum tube with a flare one the filter end for a larger filter that would fit where the airbox was. At least the size of the in the airbox replacement K&N.
