Did Bombardier fix the 2003 problems for the 2004 Outlander models. Voltage regulator, swing arm pivot, pull start, front struts, starter, clutch springs, speedos, or whatever else there was that needed to be changed?

I can get a 2003 for $5300 out the door or a 2004 for $6050 out the door. I don't want to get the 2003 and have to mess with it.

 

I couldn't find any information on the Bombardier web site regarding the changes.

 

Anyone?

 

I have an 2004 outlaner max. They have moved the voltage regulators away from any heat sources. They say they have fixed the swing arm problems, I haven't had any difficulty with mine at all and I have over 500 miles on it. On a damp day condensation gets into my speedo. They say that problem has been resolved and they are gona replace my speedo next time in. I had a dud battery from the factory. They replaced it and I have had not trouble since. Hope this helps. All in all I really like the machine.

 

ECHOS, I have 300 miles on my 2004 outlander max and I have a severe clunking noise coming from what appears to be driveline slack. It happens every time the throttle is pushed or released. Two dealers know nothing, one replace the clutch but did not fix the problem. I did not have this noise when I first bought the unit, it started at about 100 miles.Are you having any problem like this with your unit?

I get a minor clunk when releasing or hitting the thottle. But it is very minor and not all the time. It sounds like there is a bit of slack in the system. I have over 600 miles on it now and it's going strong.

 

Driveline clunk? Im looking at a new Outie, is somthing like this covered under waranty.
I liked a ride on the 400 Outlander, and am comparing it to a Kodiak 450.

 

The only problem I have had with my outlander besides the clunking noise which is getting worse, is the $200 dollar first oil change at 10 hours of service. Also they messed up drain plug and the unit leak oil until they could order one from bombardier, 10 days. The skin is very soft and will scratch easily but I understand it will also take more abuse without cracking. All that said I like the outlander very much. But I guess you can have everthing. I am probly going to by bomb rally very soon for my daughter, can't find anything wrong with that unit. Reading this forum will help you decide if the four wheeler is right for you.

I have been here only a short time, but not a lot of talk about the Outlanders. Yamaha has some decent info on Kodiaks, a lotof people are happy with them. Honda seems to always be good, but I dont like all the DATED tecnology in them.
So Outlamder and kodiak are neck and neck.

Also, the one I drove had 129 HARD miles on it, as per the owner, who never takes it easy, NO BREAK IN PERIOD HERE!! I didnt notice any clunk either.

 

Wow ML my first oil change was $54.00 Canadian, and that was with synthetic oil. I have had a few problems with mine. For example, the following were replaced, votage reg, battery, gas guage and pull start. All were done under warranty at no cost to me. Other than that it has been fine. I was out again today for a few hours. There is a clunking when I add or release the throtle, but it is not bad. Some one else asked if they were good in mud. Well I had to use my winch twice today. This is my first ATV so had have nothing to compare it with, but the mud was thick and about 16 inches deep. The bike wouldn't move in it. Also the speedometer constantly has condensation in it. Have you noticed that on yours?
