Default quad rolled in gear? wtf?

I used my quad today for the first time and after i was done i put it in the back of my truck and put it in neutral and shut it off. Then after the quad was off i put it in gear. I started to drive and the quad rolled and hit the back of the tailgate. I was like "wtf, i put it in gear" i pulled over and put it in neutral so the green light was on. then i clicked it down so the light was off and tried to roll it and it rolled. And the light said it wasnt in neutral. So i started the quad and put it in neutral and then shifted into first while it was on and then shut it off and it locked like it is supposed to.

anyone know why it did this? was it really still in neutral when it was off but the light said it wasnt? or is there something wrong?

i can't always trust my light, so i always try a little push to make sure, it's in gear.

Yeah, don't always trust your neutral light. Mine is burned out by now.
