Big Bore + High Compression
#1
Anyone running a big bore with a high compression piston?
Sure I dream of a big bore stroker, but money issues and I would rather not split the case. I was think of doing a 102 bore and a 14:1 piston. I believe it would make it a 680cc. Would 30cc make a difference? What would be some of the engine characteristics, like would it be slower revving? more torque? What about head gasket sealing, I know there were some issues on some of the custom engines, was that on the 102 bore or the larger bores? I believe if I go with any bore larger then 102 then I will have to have some machine work to my case and head (which I would rather not do).
Last question if I go with a complete kit of 102 bore with 14:1 with cams and new springs, will there be a significant power increase over my current setup of basic bolt ons and carb? Basically I don't want to go through all the work and money only to get a few extra hp that is barely noticeable in the saddle.

Hey try a 12:5:1 high comp piston and ported intake makes a huge difference and not a whole lot of money either. No boring or nothing is needed for the piston. The piston is also nos ready and can handle 105 octane fuel like race gas. Lance

duneme ran a 102 or 680 last time i saw him and it was a good running machine it wasn't a 720 but it was close, anyways it would be a fine choice if the price is right, seems his ran on pump gas also.
