BOMBARDIER OUTLANDER 400 4X4
IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE THAT LIVES NEAR NEVADA OR MONTANA, AND OWN A BOMBARDIER OUTLANDER 400 4X4, PLEASE CONTACT DYNOJET RESEARCH. THEY MADE A JET KIT FOR THIS MACHINE BUT NEED TO TEST IT BEFORE THEY CAN RELEASE IT TO THE PUBLIC. THEY HAVE A PART NUMBER AND KIT ALREADY MADE JUST NEED TO TEST IT, SO THEY CAN GIVE YOU PROPER INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT JETS TO USE. THERE ARE ALOT OF US OUT THERE WAITING FOR THIS KIT TO BE RELEASED BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT TESTING IT FIRST.

This confirms what I already thought. They have made a kit, but don't have a unit to test it on! This explains why some of their ATV needles are spot on and others kill horsepower, depending on which unit it was designed for. The 300ex, 400ex, and Warrior needles really do help alot. But others can't be made to run right. It's all about dyno time BEFORE and during the design.

222,
Is this testing procedure a new concept to performance companies? It would seem that R&D (Research & Development) means you do some research (Dyno testing a few different changes,) then develop new products based on what the research has told you.
Perhaps that is why I like Eric's work so well, it seems like he is one of the few people who puts the research ahead of the product. We've seen what happens when companies don't do any testing on their own - Sam Coe is / was a perfect example. He developed a 720 kit, but never tested it. A couple of the guys from the forums bought the kit and had to rebuild then R&D how to get Sam's kit to work. Isn't the R&D Sam's job, since he is selling the 'kit?'
I can understand why companies would want to forgo the dyno testing - it's not cheap, but how else does a person know for a fact what the product is doing. Eric has said that there are times when he will see 2 HP on the dyno from something simple - I'm not sure a person could 'feel' two HP in their butt. If you add up 2 HP a couple of times, it'll add up to 6, 8 or 10 HP. Now we're talking improvement. There is also the matter that what 'feels' strong isn't always accurate - the stock DS 'feels' like it has a monsterous mid range hit - partly due to a drop in the power just before it start going up quick on a stock bike. After installing the ported intake that drop goes away and you get a smoother powerband that is higher than the stock one from start to finish but it may not 'feel' as powerful since it doesn't have that feel of a hit.
