Ds650 vs. banshee vs. Raptor!!!

I hear you and as I have stated many times before I don't care about magazine articles vs the real world. I am also waiting to see first hand. You have stated well your vision of Yamaha's possible shortsightedness and I gave my opinion on the carb question and we dissagree no problem (I'm sure nobody has ever dissagreed with either of us before haha) I never knew there was a jetting problem preexisting production ( don't have any atv subscriptions, and never read a review on the DS before I bought it) also I don't believe there is any corrolation between the restrictor plate motor and the raptor motor, but I could be wrong (been wrong before) Another personal observation I have is that even if the raptor were 10 MPH faster in a drag race stock it looks like it still wouldn't meet my atv needs.

Oh, I am tracking with you on this 100%. We agree to disagree until proved otherwise. The restrictor plate scenario was just one illustration of a severe lean condition, it happens. I do not think the Raptor will suit my needs either. However, this thread has been lots of fun due to the lack of ignorant posts. I wish there could be more informed, knowledgeable discussions like this one. Anyhow, keep it under 100.

Your right there, that is probably why I have made so many posts on this subject because it has been fun for me as well. at least it has been some way to be involved in atving I know it is hot in the desert but St. Louis has been too hot to ride also, Maybe one day I'll trip to the desert, until then have fun stay cool!

Yeah your probably right. The magazines have tested it and what they say is usualy gold. Im sure that the full page ads in the mags that cost tens of thousands of dollars have nothing to do with the rave reviews.
People should be arguing about whos the better rider. When it comes down to it thats what will determin the winner.

Hey Ang,
In reading your posts it has been a pleasure. Look me up if you ever want a riding partner in Arizona or in the Dunes. I have a Modified DS that is to die for. I will be posting a picture as soon as I snap some of it all complete.
I am just finishing up with the A-Arm skid plates and motor skid plate and the rear swing arm. I also had ScottD (one of the posts that live near me) help me with the steering stabilizer (that was a chore I have to tell you) as well as putting on the rear swing arm skid plate, I am having to Hack-saw off the bolts due to they wont come off unless I remove the chain and rear sprocket and brakes.
Write me some time: paulc86@hotmail.com
Talk to ya soon!

Well, this is the Bombardier forum, so, why must everyone be posting crap about how much better the Raptor or any other brands ATV is better than the DS? As far as knowing about anything truthful about this quad, I know about as much as anyone else posting in this forum about it. You are right, it hasn't been released, so how do you know I'm wrong!? Why are you so defensive about what I say about the Raptor or Banshee? If you don't like my opinion, that's your opinion.
If your weren't so defensive, you would have seen the obvious sarcasm in my post.
I have just stated common problems with the Banshee and applied them to the Raptor, since it has many similar parts and design patterns. If Yamaha could not, or would not fix any of these known problems in the thirteen years that the Banshee has been out, why would they all of sudden change now? But, with a handle such as yours, you probably can't take any humor against your yet to be release ATV or your precious manufacturer.
Yes, the headlight brackets on the DS can break when you roll it. So will most other ATV's, what would you expect from couple pieces of sheet metal and some plastic. Any other ATV out there could have the same results, if the headlight is exposed to such damage.
It's my concern because this Raptor is going to be the "end all of all ATV's" attitude that posters are throwing at DS owners is getting old. Saying that the DS and Raptor are in the same class and comparing them is ludicrous. They have similar size engines and that's about it. The DS was setup specifically for the sand dunes and desert. The Raptor was setup as a "try and do a little of everything" ATV.

Ang,
From what I understand, the jetting problem was noticed after jumps and due to the high elevation of the testing area. The jumping problem was listed as being due to the lack of a shield around the main jet that would keep fuel from "sloshing" around after a rough landing.
I'm not informed on all types of carbs, but I know that my Banshee does have these plastic guards that slip over the mains.
