im thinking i may go to 20w40 for summer....

havnt decided yet. I was looking around at oils yesterday and noticed some of the ones mentioned are nearly the price of the ATV oil by valv. so i may just stick with that.

Are you guys really still buying oil one quart at a time? There is no reason not buy a slightly larger container - there is NEVER going to be a sale price on it, it doesn't go bad from sitting around, you're never going to not need it... Save yourself $50 and buy it in a 5 gallon drum.

but do they make most of these semi-specialty oils in 5 gallon drums?

i know you can get jsut about any 10w-30 standard oil in 5 gallons....

ill have to check to see what brands of oil they do carry in that size

I think Maxima is considered semi specialty. You wont find the 5 gallon drum sitting on the floor at your local shop - you have to order it. You might even ask and have the guy at the counter tell you they don't exist. I've been told that, but I have one in my garage, so who was right? If you have trouble with getting a price etc, talk directly with the company that makes the Oil. Sounds like you're using Valvoline - they are a huge company, which could be good or bad when trying to contact them about this sort of thing. I know if you use -ANY- of the heavy duty diesel engine oils like Bartlett is using (Shell Rotella) then they only come in 1 gallon and larger containers. I'm considering moving to the heavy duty diesel engine out when my Maxima runs out, it'll probably cost half as much since they produce gigantic volumes of it.

I Drag Race and My motor was built last year by Mr Horsepower...Piston, cam and ported. ..I used Red Line bought from Summit Racing the whole season, When he tore it down this year to change to the new piston , Tranny cut, new carb and new pipe....He told me it was one of the cleanest he'd seen......I made over 200 passes at Full Throtle.... I know what oil I'll be using this season....
