Default End cap

I am thinking about doing the end cap mod, just looking for a little advice. I bought the big gun quite system and had big gun install the system and the fit was very bad for the quite insert. They had to grind the insert to get it in, and that was at big guns head quarters. The owner stated that I didn't need to jet it, but just needed to remove the air lid, I tried it and it ran like cr@p! So I am going to remove it and return it. I took the stock end cap off and it looksa like all I would have to do is remove the screen cut off the tapered section of the tubes off and reinstall the screen. If I am missing anything please help me out! BTW I have K&N and the outerware only no other mods. What jetting should I try?

I have moded a bunch of stock end caps. a couple like you are talking about doing. one with removable spark arester. and another with the small part of the pipes cut off and spark arester reinstalled. If you pm me your email address, I will send you a couple of pics. getting the spark arester out without destroying it is the hardest part. but it can be done.

I ran mine with a endcap just like that before I changed carbs. and it ran really good. but, with lid left on.

I am running a pro circuit on my ds and had to go from a 40 to 45 pilot and a 185 main, different needle and raised the needle. They are telling you a story if they said you don't have to change anything. If I had it to do over again I would probably buy the MR. HP end cap and do his tuning tricks and not buy the slip on. It is extremely loud, just as loud as a ron woods.

sparky, who ever is telling you that you don't have to rejet is nuts. I ran my big gun quiet system for a very short distance and could tell it needed to be rejetted. The bottom end was weak, the mid range was good and it fell on it's face at about 6500 rpm, almost like it was hitting the rev limiter.

Well I can tell you one not to get the White Brothers R4. It did very little if anything.
Mine is siting on the garage floor now. Heard the HMF had some good output for a slip-on (they did a dyno on this pipe on the form)

If they say you don't need to re-jet just ask "Oh, so now your pipe doesn't flow as well as your advertisement (or whatever) claims?" I did that to a rep when I was looking for a good pipe for my old TBlazer 250.....Talk about back-tracking!!!
