RWR midpipe cracked...
Hey guys,
started my quad for the first time in a few weeks. The DS was in an unheated shed, the temperature was near 26 degrees. Little chilly, but not that bad.
Anyway, she fires up just fine with choke instantly as I press the start button. I let her run for a bit while I regulate tire pressure. After she's been running for about 1 minute, I notice vapors or whatever coming out of the connection where the headpipes meet the midpipe. There was quite a bit of steam, I didn't think much of it. I examined everything closely. Then about 2 minutes later, when done filling my tires, I noticed there was no longer any steam coming from there, so I just have a quick peek and noticed a horizonal crack on the midpipe, just behind where the headpipe ends. About an inch and a half long, it didn't look too bad, but I don't think it's supposed to be like that. There was no air escaping during idle and the quad ran fine the whole ride.
Note : The crack was definetly not there when I checked the first time for the steam.
My bet is the cold of the pipe mixing with the instant heat of the motor made it expand and crack?
Any opinions or suggestions?
Note : This is a 3 year old Ron Wood racing full exhaust.
