I just put a K/N Filter on and I am impressed with the low end gains. Also, it seems to be running a little leaner. I am curious to see if everyone else knows this and if this is the filter of choice.

 

I use K&N, its my filter of choice. the K&N cleaner is phenominal - I used to use dish detergent and a hot rinse under the faucet, but I tried the cleaner and was amazed at what it does so very easily. you spray it on, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse in the sink from the inside out and wholla its back to white fabric again. let it dry overnight, then hose it with the red K&N oil, and you're ready to roll. I mean you literally spend a max of 2 minutes cleaning and oiling this thing. just be certain to let it completely dry prior to oiling, as with any filter, including foam.

quality foam filters can flow nearly as well, and do a better job catching the really fine dust. they are also easy to clean, but not as easy as the K&N, its all preference. neither one has more pros or cons than the other in my opinion.

 

I am running a k&n right off the carb and I love it.. No problems with it yet

 

I agree 110% with hightower....... that cleaner is absolutely amazing stuff. You can actually watch it eat the dirt right off the filter!!!! I used to do the dishsoap thing also but after tryin the k&n cleaner I was astonished!!!! I will never go without it again. Best stuff in the world IMO.

Guys... I just tossed my K&N and put on a pro series foam filter with a foam outerwear... two stage set up and I think it works a little better than the K&N as far as keeping out the dirt and dust . Buttttt my riding conditions out here in Arizona may be a little different than yours.

 

i have my K&N and the outer wear and i like it alot havent had to clean it yet but will use your advise on the cleaner..

Your right about the seat but his whole DS650 is the slickest I've ever seen. I wished he had pictures on his bio of his DS & Rappy. They are sick!

 

I would be scared to see the bottom line on that one.
