it's a lot easier (less issues) to make power with a lower compression piston. detonation will be an issue with high compression. you'll have to retard ignition timing assuming you're on gas. alcohol would give you more margin on detonation. the lower the compression, the more NOS you can run and the more power you can make. similar situation for a turbo.
