Default lectron carbs HV46, WOW! thats some Cash for a Carb!!

I was going to start a new thread about a similar topic, but since you guys are kinda already talking about it..I'll just reply.

I have an all stock 2000 DS..The 3 mods I'm going to do in the near future were the ported intake, 46 Lectron and either a HMF or Mr. HP end cap.

Here's the question..hope its not too stupid...Will I see good power increases with the intake and carb, w/o doing anything to my stock pipe. The reason I ask is, its nearly impossible to find a pipe for a DS thats isn't "crazy" loud!! Silver Lake sand dunes has a 94db limit, and also I hate the sound of a loud 4-stroke. I don't mind alittle louder than stock, but some I've heard are way too loud and annoying..Any advice would be great!!

Yes the carb and ported intake will add horsepower with the stock exhaust. But you will see larger gains by uncorking the stock exhaust.

If you can swing the cash, you might look into the LTE dual pipes. Those are like 96 db and have a good power curve (the dyno sheet I saw the curve was a couple of hp above stock though the entire range of RPMs.

Blackhawk...96db's is close, but still hate to spend that kind of money and still not be able to ride at Silver Lake which has a 94db limit?

a 96 to 94 comparison wont be a problem - the difference will be so minimal that the ranger's wont be able to tell without testing. So as long as you don't act like a jerk around the ranges, you'll never get tested - especially since your ATV is quiet compared to say a RWR pipe at 106 db!

I think I heard they are making a hush kit for the LTEs as well, or I may be remembering something else. 96db should easily get you by a 94db limit.

blackhawk, i've actually heard the lte's are supposed to be 93dbs. thats the limit in oregon and i think i remember them saying it was going to be right there. i could be wrong, but even if it is 96, big deal. no way will they test you when others like myself are running 105+

You guys make a good point, but at the dunes in Michigan, there is only one way on and off. I haven't been in the summer yet, but I bet they can't automatically test everyone..would take too long.
