Default droped my ds off at the dyno today

just got the motor back togeather the other night. i put togeather a package from mr hp with piston cams intake carb exhaust. i am hoping to see very high into the 50's for horse power. does this seem logical? the guy at the dyno told me no. he has a ds motor in his shop the he is reassemblying for a customer with a ron woods stage 3. he said it'll be interesting to see witch has the better numbers and better power curve. hopefully they will be doing the dyno on wensday!!!! ill post the results as soon as i get them. i had a buddy take his yzf450 there the previous day to have dynoed. stock it made 32hp and 22 ft/lbs. with a ported intake, k+n, and full exhaust after jettinging made 38.7 and 26 ftlbs. do these numbers sound low? also how much of a difference does it make to run slicks on the dyno?

hard to say you kind of need a stock ds to compare to, if you were to see 15 20 hp over stock i'd say you did great

To get real and accurate numbers, you have to run a flat track type tire.

If everything is done right, I'll go out on a limb and say you'll make 10-13 peak hp over a "crate" stock ds650 dyno'ed on the same dyno with the same tires. But more importantly look at 1500 rpm either side of peak. At 5000 rpm, up 11-14 hp, 5500, 6000 and 7500rpm, up 8-11hp, 8000rpm, up 10-13 hp.

The stage 3 RW published dyno chart is 100% accurate - his stock ds matches our stock ds dyno graph, and his stage 3 perfectly matches our stage 3 graph we've done at our dyno, except that dreadful loss in power at 4000-5000rpm sometimes shows up worse on our dyno. The peak hp numbers on the stage 3 and yours will be about the same, but at different rpm. But, at 5000 and 5500 rpm you'll be up 15-20hp over the stage 3, at 6000 you'll be up 8-10 hp, 6500rpm up about 3-5hp, 7000-7500 about the same hp, then at 8000-8500rpm the stage 3 will be up about 5 hp.

Yours should be up 5-6 ft lb torque over the stage 3 and up 8-10 ft-lb over stock.

Well, I am probably not smart to predict numbers knowing the difference in engine builders and dyno operators, but I also predicted Kentucky to go to the final four. Predicting hp is about as fun as filling out the brackets after selection Sunday and just as subjective!

GOOD LUCK!

i just trying to get a rough idea of what i should be looking for. if an endcap lectron and filter will make 53 with the cams and piston and intake i got to belive ill be in the 55 or higher range. does this sound about right. i just dont want to see anything in the 40's!!!! he told me that they have dynoed stock ds from 39-42.

That sounds about right because MR.HP's end cap, lectron HV46, and ported intake puts 51+HP. So if you go with cams and a piston i think u will see around 60HP. Put it on alky and see a really really big increase. Lance

Saint650, Those dyno #s are just #s. I think if you dyno a stock DS before you dyno yours you may be able to see the true difference in #s.

Those #s dont sound low, I use one of the MOST conservative dynos around. A stock DS is about 32 hp on ours down here, and a stock YFZ piped w/ K&N runs 34 HP. Its a car dyno and is a hard pull. But it really puts the motor under a load. My goal is to hit 70 hp on this dyno down here this week, but that calls for some GOOD tuning.

are you running it on gas?

are you going to use the most aggressive vortex curve?

yes i plan to run with the most advanced timing curve on the vortex and im runiing 114 octane. i did come across a set of slicks to put on for the dyno run.

You are running 114octane? Wow that is alot for a 12:1:1 comp. piston. I thought 105octane was the most to go on a 12:1:1 piston without wasting the rest of the octane out the pipe. To me that sounds like you are just wasting money on 114octane fuel and not gettin all the use out of the octane.IMO. Try mixing half race gas and half pump gas, that is what i did with my 110octane fuel and it worked alot better it seems like, and it is alot cheaper also. Hope this doesn't make u angrey I am just trying to save u alittle money so u can make that bomb even faster Lance
