You know i have been reading the from for over a year now.I have never had much to say on here.Until the last few days few days.I have learned a lot....Seems there are people who are NEVER happy no matter what you do.If they had there way you would build there DS for free and fix all of THEIR screw ups for nothing..Sounds like a good way to go broke fast !!.....It is to bad people cant to admit they messed up.Guess some people are not happy unless the complaining.......

Okay for that matter, everyone who is dissatisfied with whatever product from whomever, just either state you like it or don't say nothing wrong about it at all. GOD FORBID, if you spend your hard earned money and customer satisfaction is not up to par.

This is starting to remind me of the days Knutz was stealing everyone's money but everyone was mummed lipped about it.

Secound of all.......Why would Gary Fix something for free when the owner of the swing arm is the one who messed it up?..Second of all. Who in there right mind would File down a weild to polish something?..... Sounds like someone is just complaining about there own dumb mistake..Trying to put the blame everywhere execpt where it belongs. And yes you can polish the swing arms..
Exactly! I saw this swing arm before and after the fix. Filed down the weld and even into the primary metal. Even talked to the welder when I had some welding work done. Weaken the welds and your gonna get cracks. Why should a shop pay for a modification the customer does after getting the product, always voids the any warranty if a person tampers or changes the product.

About the grinding welds- Your right I wouldnt recomend it either.

BUT, What about the other swingarms that cracked, nobody grinded or weakend them.
Sandman- His cracked
Cardiac- his cracked
Mine-small crack (never been jumped)
I dont know who else has cracked.
DID I MISS SOMETHING? DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUE???????????????? Everyone wants to chew a guy out for saying the swingarm cracked publicly, but nobody wants to adress the safety issue. Have you ever had a swingarm break on yall WOT in 4th gear? (I HAVE)??? It isnt fun. ANd I could have been severely hurt. And It caused $3000 to fix the damage.

Maybe Gary can start re-enforcing certain areas on the swingarm now that he realizes that they are cracking so this does not happen in the future. Its not realy Garys fault, I highly doubt he anticipated some of these to crack. These are signature TVI swingarms, I personally like them. But if my TVI arm cracks more that means Im up the creek. Go figure.

And I thank those who have the BALL$ to step up and voice their concerns about ANY faulty products, thats why we have these forums.
When Samcoe performance made a whole year HELL for me, I threw out a red alert (via forum) and probably saved ALOT of people from getting ripped like I and others did (which probably bumped up TVI sales at the time). Im not attacking those I Quoted, but you have to realize that it IS a safety issue not a pi$$ing match.
Gary has always been good to me, but if my swingarm gets worse I am also out $700 because I will not ride a swingarm that has been re-welded. JMO. And I highly doubt Garys swingarm builder will sell direct to anyone else, Just like Lectron wont sell a ds lectron to just anyone direct. These swingarms need to be adressed so nobody gets hurt. Not to put a damper on a bussiness.

You're scaring the h**l out of me. My swing arm was re-welded by a custom frabrication shop that specializes in aluminum. The owner of the place seemed to feel the the repair was fine and as strong as original. Now you have me wondering.
What is the opinion of the forum. Is a properly repaired swingarm acceptable?
A week now since I sent an e-mail to TVI about another of their products I have an issue with and still no reply. At the risk of offending someone, I think I am going to have to look elsewhere. It just seems like the only time I get any response is if they are trying to sell me something else.

ANNIHILATER you are 100% right. That is why I bought another swingarm. I didn't want to get hurt. I am not a small guy and pounding up the hills and thur the woops takes its toll on that swingarm. If anyone has small cracks right now is the time to get them welded before they get bigger. I check out my bike before I go out for the weekend so I am safe. I had a bad wreck once and don't want to go though that again.

Cardiac, The swimgarm I broke seemed to be constructed by a school kid. The TVI swingarm is a monster as far as construction and being re-enforced. Sorry to alarm you but If you had you swing-Arm re-welded, by a trustworthy alum welder, you should be ALL GOOD.
Dont worry, Its probably stronger now then before, have the new welds cracked? Just keep an eye on them for your own safety, that goes for ANY swingarm. Ive even broke the stock one.
Cardiac- you had yours fixed and re-welded by a custom frabrication shop that specializes in aluminum, You should be safe. Sorry again to worry you.

Squatcher- It can happen w/ any swingarm also. Ive had my fair share of terrible crashes also IE (heat stroke in 5th gear @ Dumont in mid summer no helmet "like an Idiot" 125+degrees, results- Concution(sp) Blown ear drum from sand impact and an eyeball packed full of sand) still got up and drove home.lol I guess we all learn from mistakes, but when my american star swingarm broke I had TOLD the seller specifically that I will be Jumping large dunes up to 15ft air, and they assured me it would hold up, and when it broke I limped over there and had a LITTLE talk w/ the owner and they replaced EVERYTHING, and I mean everything. All the way down to wire harness and batery , subframe, axle, hubs, chain, sprocket, countersprocket,etc.etc. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE, GO PARTS DIRECT!!!!
They even worked through the night hours to do the labor, It was a mess and that is what we are tying to prevent ,along with preventing any un-forseen injuries. I hope mine doesnt crack anymore. where did you get your new swingarm, what do the gussets look like?

yes, a properly repaired swingarm is ecceptable. its a jugement call of the fabricator to decide if its beyond repair or not. more experienced fabricrator= better jugement. repairing steel is easy. aluminum is a different story. I would not have just anybody work on a safety item, such as your swing arm.
