Default ds lacking top speed HELP!!!

I just bought a 2004 ds 650 baja X I'm 15 weigh about 200 and I'm 6'2 I only have about 6 hours on it but I'm almost positive it should have more power...I get to about 5 grand (rpm) and it just doesn't really pick up speed... I did take out the exhaust packing but I put it back in I'm pretty sure thats not the reason...I also run it on super premium...PLEASE ANYONE suggestions on why it's not that fast?

If you only have six hours on it, it probably is not broke in yet. Keep riding it, and keep pushing the rpms up a little at a time. As the rings start to seat, you will notice the difference. Top speed I believe is around 77 mph. Thats fast for a stock quad. Youre rev limiter will run up to 7900 rpms. You will be hitting that when shes broke in.

what is your elevation? if its high you might need to jet up if your close to sea leavel 0-2500 you should be ok. the DS in stock has a hard mid hit then just climes in RPMs but it wont be a long hard surge, just a nice pull till it tops out. I would look into a end cap mod this will wake it up. Prob. get the surge your looking for. in stock trim shes pretty choked off.

maybe some one else can add to this.

Jetting would be the first stop
If you need advice on what to check and so on just ask

and the end cap mod is weel worth doing, i waited untill i had my ten hour brake in period and oil change done before fitting the cap as once its fitted it hits the rev limiter all the time, i am still fiddiling with some fine tuning

check out this link the guy is real helpfull http://www.hpresearch.net

Why have u had the exaust packin out of a new bike

Thanks guys I didn't really think a few hours really made a difference in power...I owned a 400ex previous to this and I barely brok eit in and I felt full power within a ffew hours of break in but I'll wait until the ten hours are through change the oil AND i have been looking at the Mr. Hp. endcap for a while but I'm stilll kinda broke from paying the ds off but I'm definately getting it. Thanks again.
