Default Intake porting

I want to add a little zip to my DS. Thing is I don't have much money. I've got the exhaust, K&N, CDI thing done. A carb is too much right now. I saw some people had their intake ported for $95-$150 or so depending on where it got done. Just wondering with my situation mod wise if it was worth the money? It seems like an easy enough thing to disassemble & mail away (is it?). Were the gains realized?

Thanks,

It is a good mod to do. You can send it to mrhp and have it done for $150 and I beleive it takes about 3 days when they recieve your intake. It is a pretty easy thing to do. The only pain is the top intake bolt, make sure you have a ball socket allen wrench, it is the only way to get to it.

Got that covered.
Did you need another gasket? Is that in the $150 price or is that a dealer purchase?
Also, what gain of gain did you see & what kind of gain might I see do you think?

Mr. hp sends the o-ring gaskets along with it for a few dollars more. But you can go to a gasket store and get some that fit inside the rings. Once you have the intake off you will know what Im talking about.

andrew,
If your interested in doing it your self to save cost. this is what I did I bought a complete craftsman rotery tool kit for $100 and a dremel accesory kit for $20 from HD and did it my self it took a while and I had to becareful but it looks good I opened it up alot and cleaned it up . also dont for get to have the bolt holes drilled out one size larger so you can line up the ports exactly. once you get the carb
off ( manifold still on) look down the intake w/ a flash light and you will see there not lined up perfectly or use your finger to feal . PS dont port the engine side. if you have any questions feel free to ask. also see my pics you will see mine there. "O" ya you got some REALLY nice picks on your page!! very nice!!

I'm "afraid" to try it myself. I'm afraid I might take out too much or something. My friend did that to his Windsor heads once.

As far as my pics, thanks. Time for an update though.
