Oregon riders

I live in the mid Willamette valley and really can't see any signs of a poor economy, I don't know anyone out of work and everywhere I look people are putting in houses or businesses. I'm 2 hours from sand or snow and 20 minutes from a really nice lake. If you have the mind to stay out of town you can still afford a few acres of land for the kids to ride on. Around the Bend area the gov't has even put in riding areas but it seems there is the always present threat of dune and riding area closures that Or and Ca face.
The only problem I have is the rain and overcast days, you have to find a reason to get outdoors otherwise you get housebound. Something like cutting wood, it warms you right up. Winter is a good time to get all your projects done so you can enjoy the good weather.

I agree with you Fishslab, I would love to see the CBR quad run also.
Who does it belong to? I saw a video of a guy on a cbrquad racing up a dune. It was a helmet cam so I couldnt see the quad but it sounded bad to the bone. The guy on the cbr smoked the other guys.

Andrew,
Happy 4th Man!
You sound down and depressed man, cheer up you got a bundle of joy arriving in January!
A good place to live is where you make yourself happy, that can be Texas or Alaska, keep your loved ones close, and surround yourself with good times.
Had a good time ridding friday, we will have to do it again. Your bike spanked mine! I enjoyed the thrill of the close races.
I met another local today with an 04 Baja X, all stock his name was Nate. He lives out between here and spencerville off 117, near the river and has access to some nice trails in the river bottoms.
Andrew I didnt ask what do you do for a living now?

I lived in Dallas Oregon for aprox 4 years, it was some of the best memorys of my life. Had relatives in Falls city and would go into the mountains around there up past Val sets (sp?) and do some fishing, caught the biggest trout in my life at that time on a river up there (12"). Oh, did I tell you I was 7-11 years old at that time. fishlab and bigugly, A friend and coworker of mine owns the CBR and just got it put back together with a very low mile stock motor I found on Ebay. His chain tensioner stuck and let the chain slap the case letting in sand and toasting the crank, hence the new motor.
The bike runs hard and gets quicker each time out. It has a huge weight disadvantage but makes it up with monster HP. It'll eat anything but the fastest of fast banshees.
The entire concept is lost on alot of people which is pretty good considering it can easily do 130mph on sand. 130+ HP in a factory looking bike that cost around $4000 to build. I'll put up a post the next time he takes it out, probably to Florence or North Bend. If you want to see it, bring a stick to beat the crowd back, it's a bigger draw than a wet T-shirt contest.
On topic, I agree that if you look around with a good attitude, you might find many things great about where you live. I grew up in Southern Australia 7 blocks from the warm ocean and as Dad was a teacher we had all summer to camp and travel. We moved back to Oregon and it took me far to long to realize that there was recreation here as well, just different forms. Today was very nice, I barbequed for family, had a litlle fireworks show and watched the big show held just a couple hundred yards from my house.

BAJAXrider,
I am kinda down. I think I'm having a midlife crisis. It seems like I'm never happy. As far as January I keep thinking what a big mistake I've made. Fact is if I knew I wouldn't end up in a cardboard box I'd pack up & move right now. But I want to do things right so I don't end up in a bind. As far as family, other than my grandma I really don't have alot of reason to stay. My wife wants to stay here & rot. NW Ohio offers nothing to me. I just keeping thinking how can I grow old here?
I work at Eaton, but got shafted (IMO) out of my job when the were cutting indirect labor. (Not downsizing, "right" sizing). So now I work out on the floor. Lucky to have a job I guess. Easy work, decent pay for the area, but VERY unfulfilling.
Maybe we'll have to hookup with this Nate guy & see those trails

As far as the spanking goes. I'd hardly call it a spanking, more like a nipping. We raced what 4 times? I blew the one with a wheelie into your lane you missed a shift on another. We only really had one good race.
I still like the lighter feel of your 04. I looked around for info on that Botkins track but haven't found a thing.
