Yep the 600 is the most powerful as of right now. Ford will have a answere for them both, because dont forget the duracrac has 590 now. Putting Ford back on the bottom. Ford made the statement when the Dodge RT10 came out that they will NOT lose the fastest truck crown for long, nor the most powerful. I just wonder when the gov is going to step in and put a stop to the diesel battle and say enough is enough boys. Or else they will slap a tax on it like they do the Cobra's, Corvette's, Vipers, ect. Not like the diesels arent spendy enough to buy as it is.

The high reverse has always been a short coming in the Ford trannies and I have yet to figure out why they do that.

I havent heard anything on the cranks going out on the 6.0. Not saying they dont, I just havent heard anything along that line. 90% of the problems Ford had with the 6.0 was computer/injector issues and of those with comp issues or other problems only 2% Ford wasnt able to fix without replacing the motor. The number was something like 1 in 4000 trucks and that was in the first 30,000 produced in 02-03. From what I have heard the problems are a thing of the past. As for the longevity of the motor, I think thats still yet to be seen. I dont think no matter what, the 6.0 will not outlive the Cummins' motors. Thats the magic of Cummins.

 

A straight 6 is the way to build a Diesel I think. Like the big Cat motors. Though IH has been putting V-8's in tractors back in the 70's (1486 & 1586)
I heard alot of 6.0's shortcomings were supplier related & not IH's or Fords fault.
As far as longevity the 6.0 turns alot rpm, who's knows what will happen. Just a year ago the 6.0 outpulled both the Cummins & Duramax in a test with a hill & camper. Now it's 3rd place!!!
The Dodge has got to have worst trannys ever though.

I know what you mean, can you see in 5 years buying a 400Hp, 800 ftlb torque truck!!!

My old 1969 IH 3/4 ton 4WD truck has finally been "overtaken". Took 30 years to do it though.

 

My older brother has a new 6.0 and has recently installed a 4" exhaust from the Turbo back,and also put the 120hp programm in it. Its amazing how these big truck can run!!! my Brother-in-law with is "HEMI" dodge has been talking up his truck, so you guessed it, he calls out my brother and his diesel.LOL after the ford stopped laying twin black marks for the first 150 ft. it pulled away from the dodge with ease! After about a half-mile the dodge was atleast 15 lenghts behind. The ford(now with NO speed shut off) was probably close to 120mph!!!AND STILL PULLING HARD. It was funny as hell to see his face as the big ford pulled away LOL.
