First off I use a size bigger tire in both directions. I use a 11 inch wide tire with a 22 inch height. Gives you a little more sidewall flex and a much bigger contact patch. As a side benefit you have a bit more ground clearance.

As for the brand and model it depends a little on what youre doing. I use Shredders and like them. Theyre 4 ply, reasonably durable and inexpensive. If you want the best XC tire go with Maxxis Razr2's, but they arent cheap. The best MX tire is probably (debatably) ITP Holeshots or Maxxis Razr's although I know people who swear by GBC Shredders or others. Also depends alot on the track.

The only real benefit I see to swapping wheels is a small weight reduction. I wouldnt unless youre racing, but that's me.

the pure sports bandits are a great tire for woods riding, 6-ply and long lasting

I've had Holeshots on all my quads, and love them!!! I'd suggest keeping the Baja rims, otherwise you'll be hammering flat spots out of the other rims. I'm actually considering buying some ITP Baja rims just because of abuse my 2000 DS rims take.

I have had awesome luck racing Desert with the Kenda Klaw and the Knarly. They are 6ply, good traction and cheap!

for a knobby tire you cannot beat a turf tamer.you can stay with your stock rims and stock gearing, go with a 20-11-9 the 22's are good but you need to regear.you would drop back to a 15 tooth sprocket.
