Default $2000 what to do???????

majorecho or anyone else. I have the option of trading for an 05 X (high compression shocks about 30lbs lighter) or sticking with the 03 baja an buying some Works shocks. Does the width and length change for the 05 make is less stable or more nimble??? I rode the O5 and the shocks were alot better and it was easier to control but the shorter swing arm definitely made it wheelie easier. Still harder than 90% of the other stock bikes. Just worried how it would handle with the extra 50 hp.

I wouldn't trade an 03 Baja for an 05 X, the money spent trading machines would not be worth it. The X is nice but if your riding in open areas you may want the longer/wider 03. If your riding trails you could swap A arms with anyone that rides dunes...

It would cost me 1800$ for a two year newer machine with the x package. I need to get the stiffer suspension asap if I am keeping the 03. What I really question is the 1 1/2" shorter swing arm? Not great if adding a bunch more power.

I'm pretty sure the swing arm is 0.5" (1/2") shorter, not 1.5" (1 and 1/2" shorter.)

I've got an 03 Baja, and as nice as the Baja Xs are, I would keep the 03 Baja.

The 730 is a really nice kit, Sandaholic is getting one in the near future so he and I wont be relativly even drag racing anymore - he'll be waaaay out front. The benefit of the 730 is that you can still add the turbo later, and still run as much or little boost as necessary. I'm pretty sure Mr. HP has a choice of compression ratios when ordering the 730 kit.

I have an X and rode an 02 baja for the last year(my dad rides the baja now) and i love the X. I feel its so much more nimble. There are so many small difference that make it overall a better bike, not to mention the 04 and 05 motors stock have a couple HP more than the previous years(i think it was a slight cam change and a tad of port work i read somewhere)

I just put a RWR pipe on my X and jetted it. Other than that its bone stock(stock air filter with air box lid on) and its even with our 02 baja that has quite a few more mods on it. Waiting for my new filter to come in and probably going to order a nitrous kit so i will atleast be able to beat some of the bikes at DS Days. Either way you go you will be happy i am sure.

For $2000 to spend i would get a NOS kit(not sure if it will work with the EFI setup) and some head work.

My hope is to produce a quick out of the hole reliable machine that is still rider friendly for duning
CrackerJack,
some of the guys that have seen turbos or use them might chim in on this thought, but If I recall right I remember some one saying that if you got a turbo, that when its power comes on you wanted to be pointed in the right direction. it might not be very rider friendly unless you spanking some poor sole in a drag
so the 730 kit or bigger w/ nitrous might be your kick, that way you can still keep the power under control while riding around and turn on the power as needed!!!

the turbo handles as well in the dunes for fun as it does on the hill, very well mannered and controllable. The power comes on very smoothly and when its there you better be holding on, as long as you know how to ride it puts one grin after the other on your face all day long
My experiance is limited to the KMS system, Scooby's bike which is more of a drag bike may be a different animal.

having differnt psi boost would efect controlability to I would think.
majorecho do you know if one can change the psi with a few adjustments or is it some thing that needs to be taken to the shop to be done?

I have a turbonetics boost guage that I haven't hooked up yet, but it is that simple, turn the **** to increase or decrease boost. I'll have it installed by DS days, just not in a big rush yet. I want the option of turning the boost down and running pump gas and a different map for long range riding.
