Yes you can get the USFS spark arrestor without the quiet core.

At Silver Lake a guy on a DS with an HMF pipe & NO spark arrestor was told he couldn't ride. He saw me in the lot & asked about my HMF. I had a SA. So I said , here take my old one (different design from my original HMF) & these wire nippers & cut out the screen & just tighten down your outlet over it. He did & they let him in. All you need really is a tight screen to cut into a circle & mount under the outlet... At least at Silver Lake.

Sorry no pics. But I bought the 5" strainer and cut the screen out. Then I simply shaped a lip to fit around the inside sleeve of the pipe and wedged it in. I left enough screen to have the end cap hold it on with friction. It has been in for 6 months and worked great!

Running the screen sounds fine until you run up to a Ranger that wants to see the USFS Approved stamped on your pipe. Most Rangers around here are cool, as long as you have a arrestor, but I have had a couple that want to see it stamped in the pipe also.

Hey Outer limits....Want an end cap that will pass most dB levels, has a spark arrestor, and will give you almost as much power as Mr. HP??? Since you are my bud, I will make you one. Oh by the way, it sounds so much better than stock.....

I am so sick of hearing all this crap about open end caps. If it is open it will make more power,,,big F#@king deal.......The trick is making one that sounds good, is not overly loud, and has a spark arrestor, as well as increasing power. Now, the Mr. HP end cap scores only 2 out of 4. Mine is a 4 out of 4. And , you can make your own using the pics from my profile. Go ahead, enjoy.

Alex,
I don't want you to have to go to the effort of building me an end cap, because I do not want to put the stock exhaust back on, because it is five pounds heavier than the HMF I am using (which already has a spark arrester). I appreciate the offer though, and I'm sure it would sound better, and work just as good as this under-engineered HMF I am using. I remember seeing the dyno test and dB test on your end cap way back when, and if I were in the market for an end cap I would jump on it.

well the stock exhaust doesn't have the stamped USFS approved stamp on it!!! so what do you tell those rangers that want to see the stamp?

The USFS approved stamp is on the can, so if you rig your own spark arrester in a billet end cap the Ranger who wants to 'see' the USFS approved label will find it.

Why bother having trouble? I just bring my stock end caps with me and in less than 5 minutes I'm legal and totally silent with the stock cap.

I've never seen one of fourlix's end caps in use, though he's been around the block and I'm sure they're decent. I've got the Mr. HP endcap & I think it is very sweet. I really like the ability to switch back to 'stealth mode' any time I need to in five minutes for both quads.

good point Blackhawk. Ok so now I know that there IS a stamp on the stock can. You learn something new everyday, if not then the day was a waist.

Thanks for all the info guys!
