Default USFS run in

So I just received my Mr.Hp endcap and was taking it for its initial ride. On my way back to the truck a USFS guy stopped me and asked if i had a spark arrestor. I knew I didn't but let him do his test anyway. He said he wasn't going to write me a ticket but would file it as an Incident report and hand it off to someone else. I'm thankful for that.

SOOO... Do I need a USFS approved spark arrestor for say Glamis, Pismo (Oceano), Dumont or any other place in the dessert? If so where do you all ride with your Mr.Hp endcap that doesn't require a spark arrestor? Or would it be worth it to sell the newly aquired endcap and buy an HMF?

Thanks in advance.

Technically you need a spark arrestor on any goverment land (BLM, national forest, national parks, etc). I haven't needed one at Dumont, Little Sahara (UT), or St. Anthonys though.

Most dunes do not require a spark arrestor. At least the ones you have listed.

Any US forest, SVRA, or OHV that is located in grassy forest conditions will require a spark arrestor however. During the winter months you may get away with out it but it is so dry out there right now they are probably cheking pretty hard. I currenty have the end cap but can really only use it at the dunes so I plan on purchasing an HMF slip-on in the near future.

You're probably lucky that they didn't do a sound check too. I doubt a Mr HP endcap would pass that test.

It has been a while since I checked the HMF site but, when I was looking they didn't offer a USFS pipe. Worth a double check before you order your pipe.

I have the Mr.HP endcap and I have put the $5 Target strainer screen inside the pipe and have had no problems with the spark arrestors (bad pun).

How did you attach the screen to the inside? Any pics?

The screen sounds like a good idea. All the guy did was stick a pencil in the exhaust hole. And for the HMF can you get a USFS spark arrestor w/o the quiet core?

Thanks again guys.
