Default TM45 Carb jetting

I recently got the RWR Carb, Intake and CDI installed w/ a 160 main jet in the carb, i had no power at all so i got a 145, 147.5, and 150 main jets, all 3 ran a lot better, least i could ride it with either of those in. But there was always a big lag from 4000-6000 rpms wit either of the jets, i couldnt ride a wheelie out unless i forced it to high rpms, i put clamps on the air tube and that helped a lot, im still lagin at 5000 rpms but i can at least ride a wheelie, its not noticable when goin hardcore on the throttle, but if i go nice and easy the lag is very noticable. I ran each jet lookin at the plugs and the 147.5 and 150 looked ok as far as tan colored goes, the 145 a lil light, i was told to play wit the needle to see if the lag goes away, anyone else have any ideas

Are you running the lid on the airbox? and that lag is more then likely becuase it is lean. Like BigWaynster said move the needle down a clip and see what happens.

Nah im not runnin the air box lid, i even cut the air box hoses, snorkles, so they sit right at the frame to keep the mud out, let air in faster instead of goin thro longer tubes, but im gonna try movin the needle and seein what that does

You should PM Hightower he says his tm will not bog anywhere, he should be able to give you setting that will cure your problem.

the tube that went to the carb should be put back on or you will have that bog, if you run a shorter tube your jetting is going to go down in size, and you may need to use the pump to help the bottom end.

If your not running the lid you will more then likely need a bigger main then a 147.5. I run a 157.5 at 700 above sea level. I dont know your alt. My TM45 has always worked great for me, no bogs or dead spots just explosive power. Plus the pull is about the same as stock and I have the accel pump hooked up. That could be some of your problem with it. The accel pump is the best thing about that carb, once you get it right you will love it. It comes stock with a 150 and I had a lag problem when I first put it on. Once I got it tuned it has been great.

i had a 160 in mine and it also was very powerful off the line then half way up the hill i got passed by a stock machine. went to a 142.5 didn't get passed any more, but had a bottom bog put the tube on and went up on jets it runs pretty good.

Oh i still have the carb to the air filter tube there, i dont think the direct mount air filter would work well for me cause i ride a lot of water/mud places. What i did was cut the 2 lil hoses that come out of the bottom of the air box that run up ur seat about a lil over half way. I have the activation pump on the carb as well. I live in lake ariel, i ride a lot in Moscow which has an elevation of 1559, thats about 15 min away from my house. It feels like i should have more of a power gain wit this carb/intake setup, my DS is faster but i still feel theres more potential there.
