I used to drive a flat bed tow truck that used almost the same chassis and same engine and trans combo and let me tell you that thing moves. With a 21 foot steel bed I could tow a 1 ton truck on the bed and wheel lift a fullsize car and it would still easily run as fast as you wanted.

Ya thats like something like 34 DS's. Awesome! (I hope my math is right on that) I love the truck only one downfall it's a Intertrashinal, guess you could fix that with a Cat engine. Now if Mack could make something like this and I was rich I would be all about it.

I used to drive a 10 wheel International Dump Truck that had a DT466 under the hood. It may have had a different turbo, which would have changed the HP/Torque ratings, but that truck pulled like a mule. I'll bet I have set the world's record for worst overweight ticket, and I did it with that truck (many years ago). It was in a very very rural area, with no one else on the roads, except that one Highway Patrol officer that was waiting for me. The truck was licensed for 53,000 lbs, and I had an overflowing heaped load of gravel in the bed of the truck, and a low boy trailer with a Cat 955 Traxcavator on the trailer. Total weight on the patrolman's scale was 156,000 lbs. The overweight ticket would have cost more than I made that year, but luckily the small town judge and my boss were both "good old boys", and after they talked the judge dropped the ticket.
And that DT466 pulled 150,000 lbs about the same as it pulled 50,000 lbs. It was the all time torque monster of any vehicle I have ever driven, and it felt a whole lot stronger than my GMC Duramax feels, even though my Duramax is rated higher, at 310 HP and 605 ft lbs. Don't let the rating numbers fool you, I'll bet that truck will easily outpull any "pickup truck" you care to match it up against.
I still think it is over priced though.

A Duramax is rated at 605 now? I thought it "just" 580. The Cummins being the only one over 600.
Anyway I love the quote from the IH guy, something like "You can lease a Hummer for $500 a month. Soccer moms driver Hummers, this is not a soccer mom vehicle."

Are you saing that's bad? Why in the world would a person need to tow 26,000 lbs faster than 80 mph???? The stock DT466 is rated at like 520 ftlb. I think you can upgrade all the way to 860 ft lbs Heck just get the DT570 or a 425 Cat
