25,999 minus 14,500 leaves 11499 lbs you can haul/tow
I think the bed is a F-350 Ford bed. You have to wonder if that bed is the holdup? It's dumptruck chassis, so it's not that part that is the holdup.

Could the Axles/tires be the problem?

perhaps, but I'm thinking if a dump truck can haul so much & it's a dump truck/snowplow frame then why would the axles or frame be the holdup? Know what I mean? Maybe they just rate it low because it's still more than anyone else?

GVWR is the weight that can be on the axles of that truck, not combined truck trailer weight. I think GCVWR(gross combined vehicle weight rating) is 50k or 60k so you can tow 30,000 lbs if you want to. Sean

come on!!
Are you saing that's bad? Why in the world would a person need to tow 26,000 lbs faster than 80 mph???? The stock DT466 is rated at like 520 ftlb. I think you can upgrade all the way to 860 ft lbs Heck just get the DT570 or a 425 Cat

Is that limited by DOT??? It seems a rig like that should be able to handle more like people have said.

by the time you pout that 6 tons in the bed,,,you are over the gvwr
Bing its limited due to its short wheel base and only single axle in back. If it had tandom axles or a drop you could haul waaaay more.

I wonder if the height would hinder hauling a 5th wheel?
