Default DS Guy's Opinion on the TRX450R ........

One tooth on the front is close to three teeth on the rear sprocket.

OK, stupid question but I have to learn somehow. Reducing a tooth in the sprocket, what does this accomplish? Do you just cut one off or do you buy a sprocket with fewer teeth? I presume it has something to do with the gearing

has anybody tried the auto clutch by rekluse. I wonder if it would help. you would not have to pull the clutch in. it would just drop out a little above Idle. I have only heard good things about it so far.

Raidermike ... If you reduce a tooth on the sprocket, which is done by purchasing a new one, you will change the gearing.

The following statements are made with the assumption that there is plenty of horsepower and there is no change to tire sizes..... and Im not splitting hairs in the explination Im just trying to give you a quick explination as to what will happen.
ADDING an extra tooth to the front sprocket will increase your top speed but will take a little longer to get to that top speed...
REMOVING a tooth on the front sprocket will decrease your top speed but you will quickly get to that top speed.....
The opposite is true when you do these changes to the REAR sprocket. The difference being you have finer control to the gearing when changing one tooth at a time on the rear. remeber , Just like Maddog56 just stated 1 front tooth = 3 or 4 teeth on the rear.

Clear as mud????

Hey, thanks for the response. That makes sense. How hard is it to change a sprocket?

Just be careful because sometimes you go down in gearing and have slower acceleration. If you have enough power to pull a higher gear it will accelerate faster. Just something I learned drag racing.
