Castrol is good oil, but if you want some serious protection for that engine you should think about using a good quality synthetic like Amsoil 0W-40 4-Stroke. This oil is specially formulated for atv's, no friction modifiers so it's safe for your wet clutch. If you plan on selling it soon don't bother using Amsoil, but if you want to keep it a few years you really should consider going to synthetic oil.

i won't use castrol gtx again. for some reason, i get white creamy stuff in the top of my oil tank and dip stick when i use it. i have used it for about 2 oil changes. it is not rad fluid in the oil. i thought i had a leaky head gasket. as soon as i changed to castrol motorcycle oil, all that went away. gtx is not designed to be used in our ds engines..

Shell Rotella T fully synthetic, runs $12.98 a gallon at wal mart, that is cheaper then organic oil from your dealer. I see you are in MN, it will definately be an advantage in those freezing winters you guys have out there. I spent seven years in the "frozen tundra" of central MN, great fishing but not enough to get me to move back LOL.
