Default Snow/Mud tire

Hey i am in need of a new tire and cannot decide, i have always used bearclaws and like them allot they always grip well in mud and snow but the 6 ply rating is overkill and they are a bit heavy. If there was a tire like the bearclaws except a 2 ply or something it would be good. What tires are you guys running in mud and snow i dont think i want a race tire like razrs. Something with a cross lug or a v lug would be good.

what do mud machines weigh? they do work well but last i checked they weighed a ton....

id go with surtraks as previously mentioned basically a 2 ply copy of the bear claws that seem to clean out a bit better, and the wider center lug helps traction.

What are you looking for a snow tire or mud? Mud tires are made to dig in and bite . Snow/sand tires are made to trap loose snow and float. I dont know of any tires that work well in both except stockers.

well he lives in canada, and through previous conversations with him, he luckily has access to logging roads.

i would assume he wants an all purpose all season tire... (not one for snow, one for hard pack, one for loose...)

so somthing like a surtrak will give pretty good performance for most aspects insted of vampires which would be JUST mud for example.

yea the first months of winter the trails are all powder so something big and grippy like a bearclaw works good after that they get trails on them and get packed i like the bearclaw but it is just a bit to heavy and 6ply is overkill for what i do. ill check out surtracks
