need help 90 lbs of compression ? valve adjustment ?

Default need help 90 lbs of compression

well i did a compression check with out disengageing the comp release i got 90 lbs !! this cant be right me and a friend where out riding and in 5th it sounds like it hits the rev limiter and we were only going 52 mph we so do i need to have my valves checked or is this a rebuild stock sprockets and stock tires its not smoking so could this just be the valves need adjusting

where you holding the throttle wide open as you tested it? How many times did you crank it over?

didnt hold the throttle open turn over about 8 times

ok held the throttle open i got 120

Valves would be suspicious, get them checked- what year is your bike? Are you having a lot of oil blowby issues? Once valves are properly gapped, test your compression again this time disable the decomp lever, if your still below 180psi, do a wet compression test to check your rings.

did a vavle check found TCD and the intake valves i couldnt even get the smallest feeler gauge(.002)in either left or right the exhaust left and right were both .005

i had the same thing happen to me and major and a few others helped me out i had to get shims, before i set my valves i had 100 psi compression with the decompressor deactivated after i did my valves i got 210 psi, everyone on here really helped me alot, i could not have done it with out them, hey bird what kind of bike do you have? and what year,

ive got a 01 ds gonna get some shims on monday there is a shop here that has some oh ya the exhaust were .005 both left and right and the intake left and right was so tight couldnt even get .002 in between my last post wasnt clear on that lol yall correct me if im wrong please is the intake suppose to be .004 and the exhaust .006 thanks guys!!!!

I set intakes .005-.006 and my exhaust .007-.009 it gives me a little more time in between adjustments.

Factory spec is .004 to .006 for both intake and exhaust. If you going to be adding shims you might as well shoot for the high end (.006) since they will tighten over time.
