Default Anybody have a temp switch go bad?

I was thinking that the switch would need to be exposed to a temp high enough to close it before you could get a current through it to allow the fan to run as the switch is a normaly open when cold you would get no reading or current through it.

So say it opens at 86c for the fan to cut in it would need to be in water that hot to test it if you see what i mean.

the 86 is a made up figure for example only.

And im not saying im right this was just what i thought , still open to being set straight

ps eagle collecter thanks for the size i will get an npt plug and try it

I guess the tricky part is knowing when the temp get's to 95°C/203°F That is when it should read 0.1 I ran mine for a while with no fan and let it get hot before testing. I had no idea what the temp was?? Just guessed that it was over 203°F
Please let us know what happens with your test.

My '02 Baja is on its third one. The two other switch failures caused the fan to run constantly when they went bad.

OK here are the results

I tested it in water which i had a heat gun boiling and although the resistance came down it only came down to about 15 ohms not low enough to allow continuaty, so i guess it will need replacing.

i think i will try a motor factor for a switch i can get a bomb one off the warranty but they seem to be pi$$
poor to me i have already replaced two oil press switches.

Bombardier please start buying your switches from germany instead of italy they make ones that work
for more than a few months.

Ps the thread looks like it is 1/4" bsp i just stuck a cork in it

Also is it definetly 95 degrees that it should wok at, so i can order one the same

I got the new switch in and the fan works again.
My friend is going to make a fitting similar to the one on Ebay for the temp gauge. I will be using Auto meter pro comps to match the tach. They are 2-5/8
But that is later. Sat is the next race and my new upper control arms just arrived this afternoon. They are adjustable and I am scratching my head as to where to even start with the adjustments??
I'm screwed.
