Anyone have any results of a sound check for a pipe on a baja or any ds?

chirochris-I had my end cap tested when it was on my baja and it came in at 102 decibels but i will say that it added quite a bit of power for the cost and of course you would want to re jet and change youre air filter to get the same results.

Busmechanic is corrrect. They allow for +3db (for errors in testing) over 93db limit.
As defined by state and federal law, vehicle sound is measured by a decibel meter 20 inches and 45 degrees from the exhaust outlet. For ATV's and motorcycles the test is performed at 50% of manufacturer's RPM recommendation. In the case of the Oregon Dunes, the quad must be tested on the sand.
They know all the model RPM rev limits and use an RPM guage that keys off of your quad vibration.

Whats interesting is that last year the sound checkers went out to the developed areas on the edge of the Oregon Dunes to find out how far ATV noise travels. But when they tried to measure the ATV noise, the traffic noise from the local hiways kept drowning out the ATVs. Go figure!
