I have an 03 baha and am looking for some bolt on hp. I already have a White Bros. slip on and a K&N. I think I am ready for a new carb and whatever else works with it. Does anybody have any ideas for me that wont cost me in reliability.

The two most popular carb choices are the Mikuni TM45 and the Lectron 46HV. Which one is up to you - the Lectron makes more horsepower and the TM45 is less money. There are alot of posts on either one of them already.

You should also consider a ported intake manifold when doing the carb. You should also consider an aftermarket CDI. There are choices there too - again many people have them all. Procom, Ron Wood Racing, Vortex, Graydon - im sure there are a few others too.

Well I am pretty new to it all. I've only had my Quad a year. I live in Illinois and the weather is now getting cold. I don't want to put on a new carb if I will have to fight with it all winter(any advise is usefull). But I do want to get a good jump in power this time though. Do some products work better in the colder climates.

As far as cold - I havent had any problems with that with my TM45 - and I doubt there would be any cold related problems with the Lectron. I forgot to mention another option which is fuel injection.

Be nice to yourself and let a past owner of a Lectron HV46 tell you yes it gives you a heck of alot more top end and pulling power but it's not worth the carb suck you get Trash it I did and went back to a factor set up gets better low end but not as much top end I would like to try the other carb out but I haven't really looked into it the Lectron gave me a really bad taste for aftermarket carbs, BAD BAD TASTE. so if I get the TM45, cdi, and intake I wont have to worry about my quad being tempermental. I really want to make the upgrade. Also I these other posts are talking about taking off the air box lid. Do I? Who is the best place to order from? I have a lot to learn and I dont want a blown engine to be part of the experience.

Heres what I suggest, I removed the box totally, I still used the plastic tube and put a K&N on the end with a Outwear on it it works perfect no hesitation if you put a filter direct on the carb you will have hesitation problems but I would remove the box if you ride in dry weather if it's wet just remove the top lid and put an outerwear on the lid to keep junk out of it.

TM45, CDI, ported intake. VERY good bang for the buck. I have to say my TM is extrmely hard starting in colder weather . Stock carb rarely cranked more than a few seconds. Maybe its just mine.
