This was no friend of a friend stuff. These were my riding buds and had this happen while we were out riding together, and i usually towed them back, lol. I'm heading out right now for another day of riding.

Jetsnow, dont get me wrong, I was not there but, They were having a ring problem caused by poor fuel causing pitting on the ring surface. A typical machine showed no signs of the problem, except after being heat soaked the performance would fall off. Compression still showed good, it took visible sight, or a leakdown to know if they were faulty. Towed back? Sounds like they had more problems then pitted rings. But just so you sleep better, 05's came will new rings to help stop pitting.
Steveo10, them machines are long, but so are all the rest longs track sleds. They all should come with backup beepers and air horns, lol. They do make for good fun in the deep stuff though.

Hey 650VIPER. Its my understanding that this ring flaking problem started in the 2003 models on both 600 and 800s. Bomb said they solved it in 2004. But it seems not. It'll be interesting what happens this season. I will hope the best of luck for your 800. My wife and I will be getting new revs next year, probably a fan for her and a 500ss for me. Although I am waiting to see what Polaris does with the IQ. We currently have two Grand Turing SE 700s.
Have a good day.
