Bombsaint- Thanks for the ideas. I have changed plugs twice I have even tried the original ones. I looked at the sparks route on the plugs, at first I thought that since they were arcing to the side that was part of my problem but opening up the gap fixed that. I dont have the right thread size to do a compression test anyone know what it is? I have held my thumb over a plug hole while cranking it over( I know really accurate way of doing it ) and it seems fairly weak.

Zoomer- You dont think that if the rings are backwards it would cause my problem? I sure hope it is the problem, easy fix Like I told Eagle it will drive me crazy if I dont check them for piece of mind ya know.

Major- The cam lobes are opposing each other.

Now just for me to be sure the timing mark on the crank is the vertical line right I would hate to have wasted all of you guys time for something stupid like that.

I would like to thank all of you guys for all the help, if it were not for you kind people I would have been double screw'd more than a couple of times.

on the crank you should see a vertical "V "knotch that TDC bolt will sink into , it will set the crank at TDC, turning the motor over with your finger over a spark plug hole should blow your finger right off the hole. If for some reason you have real low compression it'll be next to impossible to light a fire in that cylinder. Have you checked your valve clearances yet? If you are too tight and the valves aren't closing all the way you'll see real low compression #'s.

A vertical V notch? I have be using a screw driver in the spark plug hole to find TDC, then looking at the crank for marks. I have been using what I assume is the V notch, there are two lines very close together but do not connect in a V ,and I dont see how the TDC bolt will sink into it.

Picture of the groove in the crank that Major is talking about on my Pictures page - a lot easier to see with the crank out

Alright I get cha, pardon my ignorance. Sorry me stupid need picture to learn. Thanks Dune, Im sure that is what I have been using, its just a little hard to tell there is a notch there with just a flash light looking threw that tiny hole. I guess that explains my two lines. Man I really wish I had'nt lost my manual.

I'm ASSuming you've checked (fully charged) the battery, fuses, electrical connections...is the plug wet after trying to start? Did you install new cams? That decompressor can be a tricky little issue. Have you talked to Eric? Hope you get this thing worked out soon...

So far you have answered most of the questions. Majorecho asked about the valve clearances. That is very important. It only takes one to be to out of adjustment to cause your problems.

Jiminok- Everything electrical is fine. New cams I wish thats next on my list. The plug looks fine after cranking awhile just a hint of perfume de gasoline. I have have watched the decompressor while turning over and it seems to be doing its job, and it moves freely back and forth. I havent called Eric because I really dont think its a carb problem, I put on the stocker and still no go.
Thanks for the help.

Eagle- I checked the valve clearances earlier and they were within spec. Maybe that is something I need to take a closer look at. I wont have any time to work on my beloved DS(can you smell the sarcasum) until Friday, I actually got the day off. Thanks again Eagle.

I will keep you guys updated as to what I find out. What really bothers me is not the machine not running, hell its probably something I did wrong on the build. What really bothers me is the crap I have to put up with when Im crusin the wifes blaster its kinda small for a DS rider.
