Well yesterday I tore down the DS and put a MRHP 12:1 piston and a lectron carb and no start. I figured I would just try for S&G to pull start it and it worked, DS would'nt idle but would run, crappy I might add. Any ideas I think Im going to try and put the stock carb back on and see what happens.

 

you might try adjusting the metering rod before you pull the carb totaly off. was it smokin or what?

 

There are so many things that could be wrong. Start at the top and work your way down. I am with busamech, try some carb adjustments first.

 

timming chain installed correctly? Did you check your valves at the same time? Carb sounds like it's the most likely culprit but there are quite a few variables that you have introduced and you'll just have to double check each aspect of the system till you figure it out. Sounds like the battery is possibly going south as well.

 

First, I would start with a compression test. If that's good, then I would be looking at a carb problem.

 

I have double and triple checked the cam timing and that is all right. I even switched back to the stock carb and nothing, as far as adjusting the metering rod I have gone from the very richest to the very leanest settings and nothing. I just spent all day today screwing with it and nothing [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] still.

 

Doc turbo, I guess that is going to be the next thing I am going to have to do. What should it be for a 12:1 piston?

 

Is you air box stock and do you have an modded endcap?

When you adjusted the Lectron, how many turns were you going?

Yes I have the modded end cap. As far as turns on the carb needle I used a micrometer to measure it and within specs I went to the leanest and the richest 1/2 turn at a time with no luck. And my air box is removed with the snorkel installed

 

and you are sure you have good spark?
