Hey there everybody got a 03 ds650 that doesn't want to start easy. When im at the dunes starts great even when it is 30 degess but when I get home around 2000 feet elevation very hard to start and keep runnin. once its all warmed up runs like the raped ape it is. I just adjusted the valves about 4-5 months ago and got them into spec. could they be out of adjustment already?? or is it in the carb maybe too lean or something?? I am not to familiar with tuning the carb on bikes any help would be great. thanks

could be a little lean. do you know what your carb settings are now? is it still bone stock? mine was a little hard to start when it was stock and a little colder. now that it is jetted and adjusted it starts easily. you might need to adjust fuel mix screw and/or try a step or 2 larger pilot jet.

165 is a stock main jet. is your exhaust stock? I have moded endcap. I run dynojets and needle. if you are running mikuni's it will be a whole different ball game. my mix screw is out 3.5 turns. screw it in first, to see where you have it set now. count the turns, and just bottom it out. no need to tighten it. I would geuss that others on here have theres anywhere from 2.5 to 5 turns out. I also use the stock pilot jet. but that might help a little in starting to go bigger there.
