it depends on who the builder is. TVI puts a steel sleeve in their jug and their bikes have a good reputation and good durability(103-108mm?). The pami jugs are a custom casting and are nikasil plated( 105-108mm). The largest I've seen a stock jug bored to is 103mm and yes it's nikasil plated.

There are a couple other options in the works (I don't think either are shipping yet?)

1. HP Research 105.5 bore - new casting very similar to the Pami but, not your stock jug.
2. Pami is working on a sleeved aluminum cylinder using the stock jug (Similar to what Falicon is doing for the YFZ450 - YFZ 450 Big Bore

TVI has put out some very good and reliable kits. I think the coated has better cooling and may be a little tougher but, there are a lot of people running the TVI set-up with great success.

I think you'll find pros and cons with both nikasil plating and steel sleeves, my preference is nikasil, but if you needed it replated it cost more than resleeving, I believe that you have better heat disapation with nikasil but I can't back that up with any data. You'll spend a bunch more for a new HP or pami jug that is nikasiled but maybe cost is not your primary issue. I've heard of sleeves slipping in a jug but haven't actually seen it, the tvi 800 I worked at DS days looked very solidly reinforced and I wouldn't hesitate to go that route if I were in the market. I 'm sure other will share some of their thoughts.

I would recomend the new studs, my stockers were stretching buy the third time I went into the motor, the HD studs have seen at least 6 retightening cycles and still no probs. Your head would need to be sent to Gary to be opened up around the perimeter to match the new bore size- are you going to put the bigger valves in- ya know thats where his motors get their power from
