Is the crankshaft/rod for the DS rebuildable?
Has anyone ever had to rebuild their crank/rod assembly?

Depends what you mean by re-buildable.

Yes

If you get in there to do anything, you may as well stroke it.

Just standard refreshing like replace pin, bearing and maybe a new rod.

My DS is a 01 and sooner or later it will need to be rebuilt.

I would like to rebuild before a major failure.

The way engines show up on eBay these days, you're almost better off buying a used engine from someone that's converting to a Busa powered DS than to re-build but, then again, you never really know what you are getting.

how extensive is the machining on the case when switching to a stroker crank? I did not see prices for the process on there either. I am geussing its big $ to have it done.

I could be wrong but, I think you only need to machine the cases if you go to the larger jug. . . at least that's what Pami does on their 760.

I know HP Research markets their 730 kit as not requiring machining of the cases but, I wonder if they they don't machine the skirt of the jug down as thin when they offer the stroked crank of their 800 kit. . . I hope they require machining of the cases because I don't think you would want to sacrafice any of the thickness of the jug on the bottom just to avoid machining the cases.

The TVI stroker is sleeved. I don't know if it needs machining but, pretty sure their big bore doesn't need to be sleeved.

The Bom has a Pami big bore using the stock jug with an aluminum (welded in) sleeve - I'ld really like to see one of these as Falicon is offering a similar set-up on the YFZ's and it sounds pretty cool. - My understanding is this doesn't require any case modification.

I know The Preacher can do this work and I doubt it really costs that much to do. Since most people don't know him, he doesn't sell kits, he is an assembler and master machinest and mechanic. He's done a lot of FAB work for myself and others and knows what he is doing. But, I would have to say that about any of the others I've spoken about above.
