Are you trying to make the bikes riding stance higher or the suspension firmer?

Rear has a compression rebound setting, as well as preload on the spring. Fronts just have preload. Which are you trying to adjust?

Ok if you mean how much wieght it wil take to commpress the shock by a given amount, then yes you can on the rear you will see threads on the upper part of the shock there are two nuts with tabs sticking out the upper nut is just there as a lock/jam nut the lower one will increase / decrease tension on the spring depending on which way you screw it.

the front shocks are similar but the adjusters at the bottom and they have a clip instead of a lock nut.

How heavy are you and why do you want to adjust it, the info i gave is for a 2004 model im not sure about the older ones may have different shocks.

if you tell us why you feel you need to adjust then we can give you better advice on what set up to go with

I wanted to increase the tension because I'm 6'9' and 300 pounds not your average ATV rider.
Thanks for the help

the rear shock should have 30% of total travel as sag ( ride height ).....the fronts are same but 20% instead of 30..kind of a universal rule of thumb..now if your dragracing ofcourse you want to slam it as low as possible...
