Very enthusiastic about the new carb, but per usual with parts for the ds the edelbrock site doesnt say that much about the ds. Would love to know when they will be shipping.

Scooby,

I noticed you have some jets on order. I ordered a 170, 175, 180, & 185 the other day since my Big Gun Exhaust came in.

Do you think I might need larger than a 185 with a K&N (no air box) and the big gun exhaust?

Do you think we need to run a larger pilot jet? I noticed you have one on order...

Thanks. I haven't played with the idle screw yet. Will leave it alone for now.

Where did you order the HSR from?

Luckly riding season is year around here.

I know what you mean about waiting. I would like a kit though, so I don't have to find a cable, boots, etc.

I want my DS to feel like it is going to rip my arms out of their sockets.

I will be doing a field test on the QwikSliver carb this weekend in the dunes. I will let you all know how it works. The bore on it is 40mm. There was no pick up of horsepower over the 38x40mm bore. Just a little better throttle response below 5000 rpm. They hade to make new throttle linkage so that the throttle cable comes in along the intake manifold.

How did you get ahold of a qwiksilver to test? So, the better one is a 40mm round, not oval? I thought all the qwiksilvers were oval.

They used my DS650 to R&D the Qwilksliver. I have been with out my Quad for about three weeks. So this one is the prototype. They still may go back to the 38x40mm bore I will know more after this weekend. Plus I live just a two-Hour drive from them. When I called they said they needed a DS650 to test with and I lent them my DS650.

I bought the polished Mikuni HSR42 from www.americanthundermc.com

Doesn't the QwikSilver pumper come in a slightly larger size than 40mm? I would want to gain 5HP if I was buying a whole new carb.

It will be more difficult to notice the effect of the new carb testing it in sand, rather than on a surface where you get traction such as hard pack or grass or even payment.

Good news and bad news the Qwiksilver is going to be a very good carburetor. I had it dyno at Alba Sorts and had a rich low end and the power drop off at about 5200 RPM. I was not there when they made the run so that is all I can say. When I got too the dunes I was able to easily adjust the Qwiksilver for the low end. It will cruise the dunes in third gear all day. Only had to shift down too second when my seed was at a crawl. Edelbrock is sending me bigger needle’s to fix the top end. The bad news is I lost all but one sand drags up Olds Hill. The biggest problem is my starts suck. My paddles have too much bite. In first gear the front end is up in the air, second gear start front end up in the air. If I play with the clutch I leave two ditches 8 inches deep 12 inches wide and 15 feet long. Now the other quads have a 4 or 5-bike lead I can make up 2 or 3 but then I hit that lean flat spot at 5200 RPM. When I install the new needle I will head back too Glamis this weekend.

More bad luck. I received my HSR42 carb today. They sent me the wrong carb. It is not polished and is not the right version of the carb. Either they are idots or they are intensionaly trying to rip me off. I am pissed.
