Well, I got my first test-ride today at my local dealer, and WOW! Even though I knew the power would be there, I was ill-prepared for it!
I didn't get to trash on it out in the sand, or anything, but I'll tell you that If Honda, and Yamaha don't do something fast, I'll have to agree with DS650_TX. I'm still waiting for the one they'll let me take home. (On order) It, somehow, seemed wider than I had imagined, and that rear swing arm is probably 95% of the total weight. (Not really, but it does look like you could drop it from an airplane without damage.)
I live in Salt Lake City, so if anyone near there would like to see it, talk to Jim at S.S. Marine. He's not quad savvy, but he's a real nice guy. There are other real quad freaks working there. I saw a picture of 4 beautiful Banshees, that were modded by the BIG GUY. (One had a in-line 4 cylinder rocket stuffed into the frame)

Guys,

I wish you were in the Nashville Tn area. As it stands now I have two available for sale RIGHT NOW. They are assembled and waiting. I have one saved for myself so there is actually three. When we started we had ten between our two locations so they have sold pretty well. Good luck on getting yours. They seem to be worth the wait.

Why is it these things are supposedly targeted for the southwestern states (IE: california) and we haven't seen any DS650's here at all as of yet? I'm on a waiting list for info when the dealer gets it. this kinda bites.. I wanna see one soon. Who knows, it might make me wanna trade in and buy it if I saw the darn thing in person.

There is one at the local Suzuki/Bombardier dealer here and it is a very impressive looking machine. When you sit on it, there is no doubt that this thing is huge, and that is why it weighs so much. It is much more impressive looking in real life than in the magazines. I think that I would still rather ride my 250R, though. The DS650 is just too big for my tastes, although its ergos did fit me well.

Mine just came in today. Dealer closed before I could get there. Friday is the day. Hope to be riding this weekend. I'm a little hesistant about the premium to pay to get one of the first DS650s.
