I heard this morning from Bombardier that the first DS650 production build finished this week. The DS650 has been released to shipping and is on it's way to some dealers as we speak. I prolly won't see mine in Texas until after Thanksgiving, although I have already seen a proto-type.

DS,
If I read your post right, you have a DS on order? Make sure you let us know what you think of it, I am looking onto the possibility of buying one around tax return time. Hope it rocks!!

I'll second that, I'd love to hear everything about the DS650 from a non-paid source. Unpaid information sources are great. If he becomes a happy owner, than thats the best information I could ever hear - especially since he is buying a first of production model.

You have probably all read the review by now, but in the ATVing.com review, it seemed to strongly imply if not outright state that the DS650 should be hitting the local stores in January. In the chat room, people are spreading rumors of a recall, but I can't imagine it's a recall if the machines haven't even left the factory...

One positive note for me, a few months ago, there was only one dealer about 50 miles from me planning on selling Bombardier ATV's. Now, I have about 3-4 dealers, one of them within about 10 miles of me (shorter trip there than to work!) so I wont have any dealer problems. Between my location and the original dealer that was marketing Bombardier ATV's, I think I counted about 9-10 new dealers ready to sell DS650's in just a couple of months. Wheeee this is gonna be a fun ride indeed! See you guys out on the dunes on top of a DS650!

While at my local dealer today I had inquired about the delivery date of their DS's and was told that they had just got a memo from Bombardier yesterday saying to expect them in 30-45 days (depending on their US location). So the chat-room rumor, is just that, as far as I can tel, a rumor. Apparently the delay was due to the un-availability of a specific part.

As a Bombardier dealer I can tell you that the problem is not just a part availablility problem. I have 5 DS650's in my posession and I was instructed by Bombardier not to even assemble them much less deliver them to customers. I also received the letter from Bombardier and your dealer did tell you correctly however I also received a registered letter from Bombardier telling me they are not billing me for the units I have received as they are to be considered property of Bombardier and If I display a unit (which I am) I must attach a sign noting this unit as property of Bombardier and not my own. As far as I know less than 90 units were shipped nation wide. I know were 10 of them went so there is not to many more out there. Bombardier is being tight lipped about the actual problem the best reputable has mentioned front end components however until I see something in writing I don't know. I will provide information as it is available.

For all you skeptics out there: badlt500r does have the big bad DS650 in stock at his shop. I have personally seen it and sat on it. It looks like a great machine, however it may be a bit large for woods work.

I saw one today at a dealership on display. Unfortunately it was not set up next to another machine to get a true feel for the size of this mammoth. It looks pretty sharp....and big. Look forward to seeing it in action in January.
